Can a USC serve in some Foreign Armed Forces?

Does the US government prohibits USCs from serving in foreign armed forces like ISraeli Defense Forces or the French Foreign Legion? I'm not talking about rogue organizations like Al Qaeda, PLO, etc.

Yes, that's one of the way how one can loose US Citizenship. Although John Walker Lingh didn't so I don't know how exactly that works.

Does the "Intent to give up UC Citizenship" apply there as well?
