Can a Re-Entry permit and an application for GC replacement be filed at the same time?

I am just wondering as if it is appropriate to file for a re-entry permit at the same time that an application for replacement of a GC is filed? Would doing so cause any delays? Thanks for your input.

I see no reason for any delay. However, you will have to do biometrics twice because of the two applications. Hopefully you will get the biometrics notices for both before the appointment date for either of them, so when you go to the appointment for the first you can bring both notices and ask if you can get both done right there instead of having to return at later date for the second one.

Although they will send the reentry permit overseas to a consulate of your choosing, they will not send the GC overseas. So you'll need somebody in the US to check your mailbox for the GC. Also note that you don't need the GC to enter the US if you have a valid reentry permit.

Thanks for your input. What will the biometrics notice say and will there be another appointment letter. Would you explain as how the process works. Also, do they take a picture when they do finger prints?

You will get two separate appointment notices -- one for the replacement GC, one for the reentry permit. They will look like the notices you got for fingerprinting during your original green card process.

I don't know if they will take both a picture and fingerprints, but they will take fingerprints for sure.
