can a pending I-485 applicant enter USA on a Visitors visa (B-2)

Can a pending I-485 applicant currently in India enter USA on a visitors visa and stay here permanently till a decision has been made on the I-485 application ? The applicant does not have a valid Advance Parole. She had her H4 visa when she went to India. The H4 visa is not valid anymore as her husband has been laid off. What other visa options can be considered in this scenario ?
 
As I said in the other post

apply for AP for your spouse. Do not jeopardize her GC by entering in b2 - which will be rejected by the consulate anyway (if you tell them the truth). There are no short cuts.
