Our daughter will get her GC in January 2002 with us. However, presently she is a full-time college student in Canada. She has 2 1/2 years to go to finish the college. Does she need to transfer her studies to the USA after receiving her GC in order to keep it? Or can she commute usually once a month between Canada and US? She also spends her college holidays here in the US, however, her total stay in US during the whole year has been less than 183 days. Thanks for your advice!

Yes..

I believe that your daughter will not have any problem as long as she maintains her permanent address in the US and pay US taxes.

Consider a Returning Resident Permit

Studying abroad is a valid reason for long term absence from the country. Apply for a Returning Resident Permit which can be used upon the completion of her studies to return to the US.
