Calling USCIS doesn't help

My 1st inquiry was filed 2 months back and still no reply. Hence...

1. Today I first called up USCIS myself and got a standard reply that either the employer OR Lawyer has to call up.
2. Later, my employer (HR) called up and they asked her for details which she didn't have(like 485 filing date etc). My HR took permission from them to get me into conference call. (A tip, since USCIS people are not allowed to hold for more than 30 secs, you need to call up again).
3. She did a conference call with me, USCIS both along with her and then I got to speak to the USCIS representative.

However, the rep only asked for information on the case and said we would get back a reply in 30 days. She actually filed an inquiry. She told us that if we don't get any reply after 3rd inquiry(this one is 2nd), then we can escalate(don't know what it means!)

call the emergency number not the 1800 #.

dumb question - where can I find the emergency number?
And will it matter that just today I called the 1800 number and filed an inquiry?

hi Mesbah,

Have u tried the emergency no any time??what is the best time to call them??

Regards
Kabish

Maybe this is a stupid question, but is it true that we can't do inquiries about 140? When I asked about the status of my 140 at the National Service Center #, they told me that I have to get my employer or lawyer to call. Should I not bother asking them about my 140 at the emergency number then? I guess I could ask about my 485. What do you guys think?

they usually don't talk about 140 app. by law they can't. one time i was able to get some info from them but on other 3 times i couldn't get any information.

Had just called up, there was a chinese lady who spoke (nice lady). She said your HR has to call up. (Warning - For guys who have ideas about faking HRs - they have the HR names there on their record)
I would ask my HR to call up and find out.

So, I called the emergency number, and was told that my 485 is stuck waiting for my 140 to clear. I asked them about the name check, and they said that, along with the Finger Prints, are in. Then I got my employer to call about the 140, and they said that the case got assigned to an officer on 01/13, and asked us to call back after 6 weeks if we haven't heard anything by then... I guess the emergency number does provide more info...

Thanks. I just don't understand why some people are so unlucky I guess. My labor cert journey started in 2000, and it's been a major pain... Anyway, good luck with your case too! You've been waiting a longer than me. By the way, when my employer called, they told them that I had just called, so I guess they keep track of this somehow.

Just now HR called up CSC to find out whats happening on the case.
The customer representative said that the case was transferred out on April-09-2004. She was not able to tell us where the case was transferred. She confirmed that the I-140 status shows pending in her system.

Please help me understand what is happening with my case. What are the options now.

Thats good at least your name check is cleared. Many people have been waiting for 1-2 years including me for the stupid name check to get cleared.
You will get your 485 approved as soon as your 140 is approved. Good luck

but 140 should have nothing to do with namecheck.

Yes, 140 has nothing to do with name check, but is mandatory step to get your 485 approved. So once mesbah's 140 gets approved there is nothing else left pending. That's one of the reason you will see many people getting their 140 and 485 getting approved at the same time.
