Called up IIO

Called up IIO around noon, and their computers were down. The IIO was very friendly, but said that they dont give out the detailed status of the case anymore;ie; they will neither tell you whether it's assigned to an officer, nor will they tell you how long it will take. This is because people start calling up IIO very frequently as they get to approval. (*sigh* Potential GC holders are sao impatient!!)

Called up IIO again at 2, and basically told me the same thing. But, when I told her the specifics of my case, and told her why I wanted that information, she went to her supervisor and got permission to told me it will take 2 to 4 weeks for the case to be assigned to the officer, and it will take 1 or 2 weeks for the officer to adjuticate(sic) the case.

It is not a good idea to call up the IIOs repeatedly. In addition to wasting their time, which can be better used for processing cases, something could happen because of which your case might be delayed further.

you are so funny

Yeah, you ARE DOING this 'impatient' thing since you call them at least twice a day!

Based on your information below, I don't see how 'specifics' your case are. My RD is almost 1 month ahead of you but I still don't think my case is more special than others.

I think you did a good thing. How many times you call IIO does not affect your processing time.

Just curious. What did you tell IIO that influenced the IIO go to the supervisor - ie "why did you want the information?"

Man!!! some people on this are board are hostile!! Just to clarify, this is the first time I ever called an IIO, and that was for a reason. The reason is that I recently got married, and my wife is coming here next week and applying for 485/EAD/AP. So, I wanted to be sure that her H4 doesnt get cancelled before she leaves from India.
When I explained this to the IIO, she took permission from her supervisor to give me the information.
According to the IIO, the problem is not the people who call once in a while to get information that they really need. The problem is people who are getting over anxious and calling up the IIO multiple times a week, which in IMO is abuse of the system. That is why if you just call the IIO for info, they wont give it to you, but if you can explain to them why you need the information, they will give it to you.
I am sorry I did not post these details earlier, because I thought that the details wouldnt be of any interest to everybody.

You are right on both counts. Don't bother bending over backwards to please the hostile souls in here. It is none of their business why you called the IIOs. If they cannot treat the information you posted objectively, it is their problem and not yours.
Best wishes for a happy married life though :)

hey, take it easy!

I don't know you have such a lovely story, but you DID show us a fact that in one hand, you blame the ones without patience, on the other hand, you keep calling IIO twice within few hours, I just feel a little bit funny on this.

Yeah, since you did not mention the 'specific' reason, I think I have more concern than you because it took me 14 months for waiting without an answer and you are not the only one.

I think everybody like me can be a little anxious at this point, you'll know it soon, words always getting around.

thanks for your info. anyway and be sympthy to my Oct. 1st week's brothers and sisters.

kia

I was just repeating what the IIO told me. I never blamed anyone. I know people are anxious. Dont shoot the messenger, brother!! I thought people on this board would be interested to know that IIO is not giving detailed status anymore

Furthermore, I wouldnt have called IIO twice in a day unless it was something really urgent, but it was and so I did
