Called IIO today 06/09/2003 around 9am EDT

I called (802)527-4913 and got a message saying that number changed to (800)375-5283.
Then I called the new number...after two minutes of wait...Lady IIO answered the call.

I asked about the status of my case...
After getting the EAC number from me, she just read out the following:
"On April 26, 2002, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made".

I asked her how long it takes for I-485 approval.
She told me "18 months".
I told her that I completed 18 months.
she told me that "you are going complete 18 months tomorrow. so call us after you complete 18 months, then we would give you the status".
(We all know about IIO's and their responsible (???) answers).

I just wanted to share this with you guys.

Have you heard this song: "What a difference a day makes .." :)
Hope yours is approved very soon (tomorrow, maybe?)

thanks for your time and effort.

we are all anxious to receive approvals but i really wonder if these phone calls are any help. it is serial processing strictly.

What a rubbish answer to give you man! There should be a way to hold these people accountable. How dare the IIO ask you to call back after tomorrow just so that you complete 180 days??? What the hell, is this like waiting to be 21 to get a drink?? Absolutely insane. They should understand that WE are PAYING them to process the applications and it is not a free service they are rendering to us. Stupid Monons! If Rajiv is reading this, then can this be taken up at one of the AILA meetings? I wonder...!

Can't U wait for 2 more days ???

instead of getting a bang
that you do not know additions :D:D

DO NOT COUNT MILLI SECONDS ...
It increases your anxiety and
waiting appears too long

You should have waited for a couple of days, I think. Anything can happen behind the scenes. As soon as 180 days passes they may get a report and the case may get assigned to an officer.
Lets hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

what do you guys expect to hear if you call on 541st day? "we are extremely sorry sir/ madam that we could not approve your case. let me put a rush on it and your order should be completed today. we apologize for deviating from our guaranteed service time"

get real. waiting for anything is frustrating. 540 days is only expected time for proocessing, not guaranteed.

i bet the ilo was thinking " nahi kiya process, kar ley kya karega. kyon khali peeli boom marta hai"

It happened to me too..

I called the 800 number and the IIO read out the same but she assumed my case was more than 18 months. Actually it is 17 months now. She started to send a request to their group about the status of my case.

When she asked my RD and entered the same, their system gave a response saying it is not over 18 months..

Anyway, looks like if it over 18 months then they request for an update/status check on the file...

Now we know the reason why they have closed local office phone numbers. They no longer want to do that little service that they
were doing till May'31. There is no use calling the 1-800 number unless you complete 18 months in waiting. We better concentrate on our job than tracking the GC progress

IIOs are giving "Aajab saval ka gajab Jawab"... Dont aspect that they will tell you what you wanted to hear.

I also called IIO about my case status on last friday. One lady IIO came on the phone after 2 mins and asked my A# & ESC no. She read the same message and told me that we received the result of your fingur print on 24th of Jan. (My RD is 10th Dec). She told me that it is taking 18 months to adjust this kind of cases. You will complate your 18 months in the month of july (she calculated my 18 months based on receipt of FP) and asked me to call in the month of August if my case is not aaproved!!! What to tell her !! I politely said "Thankyou very much m'dam"!!!!!!!!!!

There is no way you can give a knowledge about RD, ND, FP.... You just have to listen what ever they say. Hope INS will give them a nice training and a pay hike of 2$/hr from 5$/hr.

dodital,

Are you absolutely sure about it being serial, since I am inclined to believe that there is a degree of randomness here.
