Called IIO this morning, just for the heck of it

Orca,

If all you wanted was to find out your own status, you just have to go to the INS website and punch in your LIN number. Usually, they are not very diligent in updating your fingerprinting etc., but the results are more reliable with regard to RFEs and approval.

I have never used a script but here is how it is, more likely than not, set up:

What the script does is give you the ability to check the status of multiple LIN numbers by simply specifying the beginning and end of a LIN series without actually keying all those digits manually. The script also collates the results so obtained. Folks on these forums, being the (dis)ingenuous lot they are, have attempted to decipher INS's (in)actions by making somewhat forced inferences from such collated results.

Be careful when you run these scripts though. The INS server apparently keeps count of the number of queries generated by a given IP address (id of the server from which the query is originating from) and if this count exceeds a certain level (say, 100), it locks you out and probably generates a misuse report for the adminstrator. When you run a script, all it is doing is submit multiple quries from your IP address with sequential LIN numbers. Needless to say, the program risks running afoul of the INS rules if it submits too many queries.

arp001 & maverick1976,

I believe this LIN number format is unique for I-485s. Other applications use a different format. You may want to verify this by comparing your EAD, H-1 or your AP number with your I-485 number.

Hi Pork chop,

Could you please run the script for Jan 11 2002 (LIN-02-083-XXXXX) and give us the statistics, if it is ok to run for you.

Thanks for the help.

I think you should try separately since

script run is IP address sensitive. May not be a good idea for single person to run for all. The steps are all described in one of today's postings. Please search that and follow the steps. Pork
has added all the flavors in the world in his chops. We all need to track and submit on his proposed thread.
