Called IIO about my ND 10/4/99 case today

Here are my details: EB2(Transferred from EB3), PD 1/98, RD 9/23/99 ND 10/4/99, FP issued on 2/13/01 and FP done on 2/21/01.
I just called the VSC IIO to find the status of my I-485 case and asked her only a couple of questions.
1. The status of my application.
IIO: The case is pending.
2. Did you receive my Finger prints.
IIO: Yes we did receive your finger prints.(I didn\'t ask the specific dates)
3. I asked her how soon I can expect the approval
IIO: It should be about 30 days and she said she has all the information she needs.
Didn\'t elobarate the conversation as I know there are many genuine callers out there who are eager to talk to an IIO. I will call after about 2 weeks to check the status on my application. Cheers....

IIO\'s are giving conflicting information, didnt someone say that after FP notice, application is sleeping for 2 months. but in your case it seems to imply that your case has been assigned to officer.

It used to be 2 months for INS to open the applications after they receive the finger prints. Look at the applications with ND of 8/99-9/99 they all received the finger prints sometimee in 2000. It is only for the ND of 10/99 or later that have finger printed in Feb/01. And since these guys are already at the brink of the INS so called 365-540 days of time limit, they may be processing these application right away after they get the finger prints. So I believe they would be approving the Oct/99 cases sometime in April/May 01 and the Nov/99 cases in May/June 01.

Called IIO 3/23. RD: 10/04/99, ND: 10/14/99

Talked to today morning.. Name of the lady was Debra.. She was very nice and answered with respect.. Following are the conversation details:

Me: Good morning Debra.. I would like to know the status of my 485 application.

Debra : I need your EAC or A#

Me: (Gave her all the details.

Debra : When did you complete your FP.

Me : Feb 20th.. Talked to FBI and they told me that they sent it to VSC on Feb 27th.

Debra : Yes our system is updated and I can see that your FP is successfully completed.

Me : So can you please tell me the status of my case.

Debra : Sure.. Your case is pending and it should take less than 60 days for the approval..

Me : What is the meaning of case is pending. Is it with the officer yet..

Debra : I am sorry but we cannot share this information. But your application should be completed before 60 days.

Me : So I should definitely get the approval within 60 days..

Debra : I am giving the best possible estimates. So it should take 60 days or less.

Me : Great.. Thanks a lot Debra.

Debra : You are welcome. Bye.

So this is how it went.. Guys, looks like VSC is moving.. But what is the meaning of pending.. Does it says that the case is already with the officer.

Called INS on 03/23/01 about my case EB2, RD 10/25/99 and spoke
to a lady, said hi, gave EAC number :
- she was quite nice and said my FP was received from FBI (fp done
on 03/09/01) and everything looked ok and that my case was pending
- did not ask anything else. I asked if I can find out my wife\'s case
- she said my wife had to call and I asked if I can conference my wife into the conversation and she said OK - but I messed up the conference call and dropped the line - anyway my wife called and she was told her FP went fine and that her case was pending.
Thats it guys and gals - amd keeping my fingers crossed
