Called IIO 3/23. RD: 10/04/99, ND: 10/14/99
Talked to IIO today morning.. Name of the lady was Debra.. She was very nice and answered with respect.. Following are the conversation details:

Me: Good morning Debra.. I would like to know the status of my 485 application.

Debra : I need your EAC or A#

Me: (Gave her all the details.

Debra : When did you complete your FP.

Me : Feb 20th.. Talked to FBI and they told me that they sent it to VSC on Feb 27th.

Debra : Yes our system is updated and I can see that your FP is successfully completed.

Me : So can you please tell me the status of my case.

Debra : Sure.. Your case is pending and it should take less than 60 days for the approval..

Me : What is the meaning of case is pending. Is it with the officer yet..

Debra : I am sorry but we cannot share this information. But your application should be completed before 60 days.

Me : So I should definitely get the approval within 60 days..

Debra : I am giving the best possible estimates. So it should take 60 days or less.

Me : Great.. Thanks a lot Debra.

Debra : You are welcome. Bye.

So this is how it went.. Guys, looks like VSC is moving.. But what is the meaning of pending.. Does it says that the case is already with the officer.

We can only speculate what "pending" means. None of these status terms are not defined anywhere. So the bottom line is, your guess is as good as mine.

Well, good luck to you. But please remember at the back of your mind that the time-frame that IIOs give out have actually no meaning/significance and does not mean anything. They have been telling me that my application is with an officer and it will take approximately another 2 weeks for the past more than 3 months....

when i called last time, some man answered. i was told my case is pending. i asked if my case has been assigned to some officer. he told he can\'t tell me that. i asked about my fp and was told the fp was completed in january on their system(did in late dec). i asked how long it\'ll take to get to my case, he said it takes 60 days to pull out my file from the shelf and takes 30 days to approve. i guess that my case is not with anyone yet.
next time when you want to find out what the pending means, ask when they pull out your file or to review your case. in an indirect way to see if your case is at the someone\'s desk. there\'r some info only for their inernal use. if the iio lets you know depends the iio\'s mood.

Hi Vinayak, Thanks for sharing the info.
I got the similar reply when I called the IIO yesterday. She told me that it should be approved in 30 days. My RD is 9/22/99 and ND is 10/4/99, FP on 2/21/01,EB2. She told me that the case is pending. I !!think!! that means it is with the officer and usually the officer takes 2-4 weeks time to approve it.

Hi,

I feel all these IIOs wake up in the morning and depending on their morning moods ( type of breakfast, house price index, freeway traffic, nasdaq market, bonus and raise plans, tax cuts news) accomodate-retaliate-answer your phone calls to the best of their own instincts. Therefore, you cannot infer/guess anything out of it. The only consolation is your guess work and anticipation for best. Most of the IIOs replies ( wait for 6 more months , case pending with IIO, cannot share info. --> type of lingos ) are not worth the mental agony. Some of you can debate on my posting. But, may not get far.

Same Boat waiting 485 approval
3 calls made during past 1 and half month
1st call says will take 2 more weeks
2nd call says will take 3 more weeks
3rd call says will take 4 more weeks also says pending cannot share the info if its with IAO
So you can imagine ..... whats going on their , donot believe in anything as all the cases vary and nobody is special to them.
So wait and believe only when you see the actual APPROVAL NOTICE
Relax and back to your work .
