Called emergency number

please suggest

Hi! All

I received RFE on my I-140 on 3/14/2005. We replied back with proper information on 3/23/2005. Received an email in 3/28/2005 saying that the RFE reply has been received.

At the same time received RFE on I-485 for my wife and received the update on the same date (3/28/2005).

After that LUD was on 3/30/2005 for both I-140 and 485 for all family members.

How long it takes USCIS to reply on RFE cases? I am bit worried now as my company has started laying off people and my manager today told me that I should look for job within 3 months.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

qzahmed - You should get some decision soon. I got my approval in one month.

BTW, after I called emergency number on 6th for my I-485, I have LUD update of 7th and this must have been updated late night yday.
Is this common to have LUD update a day later after u call emergency number?

Microdev1, I called the emergency number today but she didn't want to provide any update for me. Asked me to have my lawyer call her for update. But my lawyer refused to call saying it's to early to call :( So still waiting. Some things have changed dramatically at work lately. I need to get these stuff approved as soon as possible. Hoping for the best. Any fruitful sugesstion is welcome.

Thanks

Well you can also have your HR person from Work call on your behalf. Maybe it is easier to convince HR to call than the lawyer.
I suggest you prepare details in a piece of paper to your HR if they are not too familiar with the process.

qzahmed, if you inquire about I-140, they will not give any info to you.
Only company HP or attorney can inquire. As csc_pawn said, ask ur HR person to call. But I would suggest that you inquire about ur I-485 application. They will tell you about it. If they tell about name check pending or some other issue, you know that I-140 may also be held due to that. This is not a sure shot way but you will know something.......

qzahmed,

Call the number again.

I got no updates on my case in my first 2 calls.

In the 3rd call, I was able to spend 10 minutes on phone with officer, going thru the details of the case including who my attorney was, my previous work experience etc. He had all the details of my case.

There is no qualification required in doing that, just you have to get lucky to get one good officer to talk to you.

Keep trying. You will succeed.

The number I called was 949-389-3007 and I tried it around 2 pm.

Best of luck. Keep us posted.

GC_GoneCase, Did u have LUD updates after you made those calls?
I had I-485 LUD update yday night when I called on 6th.

Yes, I called up on 4/1(Friday), I had LUD on 485 on 4/4 (Monday)when I checked at about 10am.

At that time, there was no LUD on 140. At 11 am, I got mails on 140 approval.

I called emergency number on 4/7/2005 when I saw the processing date has passed my ND of 140/485. which is 10/05/2004.

The guy told me that my cases should have been assigned to the officer. I also asked about the name check and he said my security check is cleared.

I got LUDs on 140/485 on 4/8/2005. LUD on 485 first and then same LUD on 140. I am not sure if that is because of my call on 4/7/2005.

gc, microdev1, cscpawn ... all thanks very much for all the info. So I could finally talk to some one today. She said "There is no problem with your case but the office who is working with your case has too much work load. So just wait, you should get something within 2-3 weeks time."

So having my fingers crossed and praying.

Thank you all and I will keep you all posted.

I just called emergency number and the officer provided me new insight.
1. They have got FBI clearance but name check field is blank. The person was unable to say name check is cleared or not as no information was in there, which most probably means not.
2. I was asked if I had done the I 89 processing. When asked what that means, I was told that it means bio metrics, which is needed for issuing GC card. I was told when the name check info is not there, they go for I 89 biometrics.
3. The officer took all my contact details and told me to wait for 48 hours. If any issue on any information needed, I would be informed else everything is fine and just wait?????

GC_GoneCase, What is frequency of your call to emergency number?
I called 6 days back and am bit hesitant to call again so soon.

Last call was April 1, the day my 140 got cleared.

I have called 2 times before that between March 20 and April 1.

Did they tell you something like what they told me e.g. I 89, biometric stuff etc?

I am not sure why they asked me about it out of blues.

And today I came to know that name check is still pending :-(

GC_GoneCase,

How do you get this lucky and talk to officers that are willing to discuss things with you in this much detail and even go as far as taking your number down? I have the worst luck.

I just asked my HR person to call to enquire about my 140, and they said they'll do an inquiry. He said that's not acceptable, and they finally agreed to enquire with the officer's supervisor. We'll see. I'm losing hope.

mesbah,

Do not lose hope. My first 2 calls were not effective at all and the officers did not even check my case.

I realized my start with them was shaky and I probably need to talk more confidently.

After that, the next 2 calls have been very good and the officers were very co-operative. They have gone thru the details in full length, I cannot ask for more thru them.

Try again, it is matter of getting the right guy to field your questions.

Best of luck. Let us know your experience.

greet them
be polite
they are doing a thankless job so you need to show that you care. it will start with a greeting.

but some are just jackasses and they won't budge...
