Call for Biometrics. But 485 not approved yet

I got a receipt on 27th asking me to come for Biometrics (code 3). But my 485 is not approved. I did FP last year itself. Can someone tell me if Biometrics is different from FP or is there anything i can do. I triied doing it yesterday, but they did not let me do it as there were lot of people and my schedule time was Nov 1st...

Go to the nearest ASC, bring your Biometrics Notice and photo ID with you ASAP if you'llbe affected by 10/1 cut off. Today is your last chance to fight!

It appears many people got Biometrics (code 3) notice in past few days, inluding me. It could be just a FP notice, or an indicator that USCIS will do something more than keeping our FP valid. My FBI's name check hasn't been cleared, so I am not very excited about the biometrics notice.
