Calculating time in H status

Hello,

I've been admited to US in H status in June 1996. I then got GC in June 2002. My last H1 had expiration date June 1st 2002 but my I-485 was received by INS on July 28, 2000 and after that as I understand I was in "I-485 pending" status. How much time did I stay in H status?

Was it 4 years - from first admission untill I-485 receipt or was it 6 years - from first admission untill I've got my GC?

You were on H status
1. until you filed a i-9 to change employment authorization or
2. until GC approval.

Does that mean untill my I-765 - Application for Employment Authorization was approved?
 
No, until the day you filed I-9 and mentioned EAD as the employment authorization, not approval date.
