Cairo or Abu Dhabi ?

Hi - i am Egyptian with CN: 2015AF26xxx, used to work in UAE, so i wrote Abu Dhabi as my office for processing. now my company is closing the project that i am working with, and hence i have to leave the country. so i am confused if i should change the office to Cairo or just leave it in Abu Dhabi and go later for my interview there!
what is better for me ? processing from Cairo or Abu Dhabi ?
 
Hmmm. You could look at the two consulates and look at refusal rates. However that would not be sure to mimic your exact situation. You could do the same for AP. All that info is available in the last CEAC data file...

Congratulation, I am Egyptian and obtained my visa from AD and in your case I prefer Cairo since if you choose AD, you and all your dependants should do the medical from the recognised hospitals in UAE in addition you have to provide all your documents in English which is not the case in Cairo in addition one of the common question will be your current job and how long have you been living there? And you have to consider any probability to put you on AP as in AD you have to submit your passports and then collect it and there is no courier service. Good luck mate.

Thanks Britsimon - comparing to the number of cases being handled in both embassies, Cairo has more refusals as well as AP.

Dear gek1974 - I guess you have a good point, i just thought that Abu Dhabi might be faster than Cairo, however it would be difficult to get a job easily in Egypt, so i might go to the interview in Cairo jobless as well!

Yep, that would have been my guess.

Now you have the same issues (statistically) as the cases in Cairo (because you are Egyptian), but you will be dealing with COs that are less accustomed to puting people on AP or issuing denials. So - that isn't to say it won't happen, but you might want to take that advantage....

I am not sure if i understand you well, however it's really difficult for me to decide!
Do you think that it might affect my case during the interview, Since i don't have a job anymore ?
Well my point is that Cairo is better in general, but risky !

Hmm. I don't know if "which has less refusals" is the right way to analyse it because doesn't Abu Dhabi still require AOS? That would make refusals less likely to begin with - but may be harder to do in the first place. I am not 100% sure on the AOS though. Also don't know if an Egyptian in Abu Dhabi stands more or less chance of refusal than one on Cairo.
I would do Cairo if I were the OP.

Hello SusieQQQ...how to check the refusal rate of Nairobi and Abu Dhabi? If you know please :)!

Well, to be honest, i am also not sure about the AOS in Abu Dhabi, however i thought that i can just travel anytime, explaining my job's situation to the officer, in fact i lived in UAE for 8 years, for me, i am well used to Abu Dhabi!

and i have also another question, since i have a B1/B2 visa, and i would be free, so do you think that it would be fine to travel to US, until my interview, and then come back to Cairo for processing ? it would be useful to use the time while waiting ?

Hi, remember that at the time of the interview in ABD your staying permit should be still valid! Because I don't think they will process you on a tourist visa.
About you travelling on b1 visa, its also risky because its not a dual intent visa, it might be used against you ! So I would suggest you NOT using it.

What is a "dual intent visa" ?
 
thanks Vladek15425 for your input, however i have been to US couple of times earlier, do you think travelling again and coming back for my process is a problem ? this would be the only chance for me to have a long vacation since i am free from work (considering that i have been working continuously for 11 years without long vacation!)

It might be difficult for you to show that you have ties to go back without a job. Visiting on B1/B2 is fine if you can show a CBP officer that it will be temporary if they question you.
