Cable to NVC or American embassy, which is correct?

Hi

Can anyone tell me why my son's I 824 approval cable was sent direct to American embassy in home country??????? Follow to join, cspa cover (I hope)

I am confused as many people keep saying the paperwork should go to NVC then to American embassy of home country and am worried there has been a mistake.

Please reply if you can

Susan,

Most of the experience/knowledge around here is based on the employment based consular processing.

I'm sorry to say, but I sincerly doubt that anyone with this domain knowledge participates around here.

Check out the "Any topic" and "Life after greencard" forums, where a lawyer or two participates and *might* be able to help you out.

cable overseas

I am doing follow-to-join for my minor son who is still in Romania. I started the process in aug.'04 and I received P3 already. I did not have any communication with NVC, only with the American Embassy in the home country. I did not use the I824, I only requested that my minor son to join me in the US. I faxed over all the required documents, and I'm waiting for the interview date.
Hope this helps.

documents

I had I485 approved on aug'04, employment based, so I'm LPR now. The documents that I faxed,so they can sent me P3, were:
  • birth certificates(for myself and my son) and marriage certificate to prove the relationship with my son
  • I797 for the approval of I485
  • copy of the approved I140
  • biographical page of the passport
