Cable clearance sent from DOS to Consulate - What next?

jjfutt:

InshaAllah we all get our visas stamped soon InshaAllah.
I applied for H1-B VISA first time.

Did you have H1B or any other U.S. visa before? I was guessing that they were doing local clearances in your case because this might have been your first ever U.S. visa. Is that the case?

jjfutt :

Yes you are right, this is my first U.S visa and i agree with your opinion thats why they are doing local clearances or asking for local police certificate. At the latest according to my guess they have done enough local clearance of six months i.e. (they ask for police cert. at 29 Nov 2005 and they send latest request to DOS at 31 may 2006 ). I hope and inshaAllah this clearance will come soon and this will be final.

jjfutt :

Is there any update in your case? I contacted DOS last week to inquire about the pending security clearance of 31 May 2006 according to the visa specialist it is still pending.

No, no update so far. My third clearance got approved on june 9th, but they requested a fourth clearance on 10th of June, which is still pending. :(

Any update about your fourth clearance? I contacted DOS about my 31 May 2006 clearance current status according to them it is still pending.

Congratulations ftniv. I am still waiting for my 4th clearance that was started on June 13th. Do you also have the dates of your multiple clearances available? as to when each one of htem was requested, if you kept track of them at all?

Thanks jjfutt, actually i started asking DOS after waiting for one year. According to DOS embassy requests last clearance on May 31, 2006 and that clearance took 3 months and 11 days. Inbetween when ever i asked them they say ur case is still pending. But when i called DOS on September 14, 2006 the visa specialist says ur last clearance has been sent back to embassy now u wait for embassy response, embassy will contact u. Next day when i called american express about my passport they say yes we have ur passport stamped. On the visa it is mention that:
Last clearance received on: September 11, 2006
Visa Issued: September 12, 2006
InshaAllah u will get ur visa soon and inshaAllah this would be ur last clearance.

Thanks ftniv.

My last request was sent on June 13th. About 2 weeks after yours. Although, chances are my request was not the same as yours, but in the event that it was, (i.e., sent to the same agency), I could probably hope that the particular agency will clear my case during the next two weeks. I can only hope.

Last time, I spoke with a DOS representative, she told me that after following up with the 'particular agency' that's handling my current request, she's found out that they had been severly backlogged and had just BEGUN working on june cases, so I can expect them to work on mine soon.

Who knows if I am right, but from the timeline, it does appear that my current request was probably sent to the same agency that handled your last request.

Goodluck to you man. Enjoy your time in the U.S. of A. And make sure you get married or do whatever else you have to do before you leave and don't have to come back soon, otherwise you might get stuck like me and many other people!

InshaAllah u will also get ur visa soon. It appears that it may be your last clearance request pending at DOS after that i don't think u have to wait for local security clearance as ur applying for revalidation. If you visit the us embassy turkish web site u see they clearly metion that average waiting time for security clearance is 4.5 to 6 months. They also mention current status of cases whose clearance is pending. The most difficult thing is to wait I understand as I also had to wait for a long period. Be patient and keep ur self busy in some activity, inshaAllah u will get ur visa stamped soon.

add me too to your waiting list

Hi

Today I had my interview for H1b Visa in the consulate of Dubai. The officer told me that he was going to send my case to Washington for a security clearance which usually takes about 6 weeks.

So, my count down has started from today :(

Is there anyone in this forum who had his/her interview in Dubai?

Thanks,
Sami

Finally got my visa

finally after 8 months of wait, I got my passport with U.S. visa today.

========
My history:
========

Interview (4th U.S. Visa, 2nd H1B): Feb 24th 2006

First clearance completed: 17th March
Second clearance completed 27th March
Third Clearance completed 10th June
Fourth Clearance completed 22nd September
Visa Issued: 2nd October

I'd also like to share that I had gone through Security Clearance ONCE BEFORE when I first got my first H1B visa in April 2003. At that time it took only 6 weeks, whereas this time it took nearly 8 months.

Nothing can actually 'expedite' your case, because these clearances are matter of national security and nobody can intervene. However, we should STILL CONTACT all of above becasue it increases VISIBILITY into this problem, which could someday help improve the process. Think of this as something you could do to help the future victims of these delays, although these steps may not necessarily help your own case in any way.

Goodluck to you all, and remember not to be disappointed regardless of how long these clearances take. We have example of people on this very board who got their clearances after 14, and 20 months. However these cases are rare. It seems like all the good guys eventually get their visas, so you should have no problems as long as you are one of the good guys too.

arsami,

So, what happened with your visa ? Have you got it? How about everyone else?

This is a very good thread. The only one that I have found with mostly Islamabad related visa experiences. Keep it alive... and also fill it with information about any good cases that you personally know about. People who got visas within weeks.

Reading many of these posts, it appears that ISB visa office can take long time after receiving clearances from DOS and other agencies. This could be bad as by the time thy look at the clearance, the CLASS database could have been updated with another new name that matches the applicant's name... and hence more investigations come on the way... :(
