CA state transcripts cost $20 per transcript

There are postings on this board that mention taking state return transcripts. I called CA state and they are providing a transcript for $20 , which is a photocopy of the tax return filed, and it will take 3 - 4 weeks. I already have a copy of my tax return. Do I really need to carry an official copy? The difference between my copy and state is that the state one has a stamp certifying it as an official copy

I don't think they need State Tax Transcripts. Don't waste your money. I didn't even include any State Tax Return copy in my application.

I did include copies and brought original Federal Tax Transcripts but the IO did not ask for it.
