Business visit to Canada for temporary consulting

Hi,
I am an IT consultant in the US on H-1B, working for a US client, and I've been asked to visit my US client's Canada office next week for just a month of temporary consulting work. Is this considered employment in Canada? Because I'm still being paid only in the US and I shall return in a month. Could anyone please share some information on what visa is suitable? The usual temporary visitor visa or would this need any complicated work permits?
Thanks,
Rupa.

Rupa,
As long as you are not going on a "Canadian payroll" and you are consulting in Canada on behalf of a US firm as a US based employee, you do not need a work permit. It would be a good idea to carry this information on official company letter head. Such documentation will help you acquire a Canadian visit visa and help you at the POE, incase you are questioned explicitly about your purpose of visit.
