Business Owner Heading to USA

Hi there,

I am a single Canadian Citizen.

I currently am the sole director on two federally registered Canadian Corporations. I am planning to move to the states to expand one of the businesses there (basically event planning)... All revenue will be done via a Canadian website and the Canadian corporations.

I plan on moving to several American cities to promote/sell/host events over the next year or so.. with plans to return to Canada.

I believe i should be applying for a b-1 Visa, but would like some advice on what the best steps are....

Also question.. what is the max time stay for a b-1 visa.... what if i need more time? Are there other options for extending the stay?

I also own two cats and would like them to come with me on this year long move.. Is this a bad thing?

A B-1 status will grant you 6 months only. I would advise you to make smaller, more frequent business trips instead of thinknig about a single year long trip.

You need to be working with a US attorney as your plan seems highly unusual for a B1 visa (moving to US with your pets is not a normal business trip).
