It can be done. The requirements are the same whether you own the company or not but if the company is new and you are signing the petition for yourself expect big problems. USCIS could have some questions regarding how you are able to sign papers for a corporation that you do not work for and how you are authorized to work for the corporation if you do not have an H-1B. It can be a "chicken and the egg" scenario where you can't sign the papers without working for the corporation and you cannot get an H-1 without signing the papers. The best way around it would be to have another employee of the corporation sign in their official capacity.
