Folks,

First, I really need your help!.. Please respond...
My wife have received the interview date for Feb 12. The letter was dated Dec 20, 2006.

I have not received anything yet. We both filed on the same date (Oct, 14) and FP was done on the same day (Nov 4)...

My status check through the website and over the phone with USCIS gets a standard message.... i.e my case was filed on Oct 18 and will be notified through mail...

Please let me know what should I do? Your emails are really appreciated !!!

Regards,
Luck

What you should do is wait some more.

Most likely your wife cleared namecheck but you didn't yet. Even so, your case is still so recent that its hard to make any judgments whether you are going to get truly stuck or just a little slower than your wife. When you get to the 6 month point, go take an Infopass and start making inquiries.

Boatbod,

I really appreciate your reply very quickly. I have few questions

1. What is inforpass?
2. I am looking for a job and likely to get one out of Boston....
While the move may take months with house/family move and other variables involved... I do not want this process to become a variable affecting that oppurtunity..So what should I do?

USCIS is making us clueless without giving us an option with a proper timeline for the overall completion of the process...

Particularly, when two applications have to received at the sametime and the receipt numbers are in succession to each other, with FP done on same. Therefore what is the factor that separates myself and my wife to get an IL by more than a month?

Thanks
Luck

Infopass is USCIS's online appointment booking scheme that allows you to request a meeting with an immigration officer at your local district office (DO). First you make the appointment, then you go ask why you haven't heard anything about your case.

Since naturalization cases are normally processed individually, there really is nothing to tie your case to your wife's. In my case, both my wife and I were interviewed on the same day (2 hours apart), but then we had 1 month difference in our oath dates. No explanation...

Most likely the reason you haven't received an interview notice is because your case is pending the results of FBI name check. Search the forum for exhaustive explanations of why that happens. Usually just bad luck, but not much you can do about it.

As far as moving is concerned, you need to understand that any change of address causing you to move into a different district will automatically incur a 90 day delay while your files are forwarded and you establish legal residency at the new location. Try not to move if possible!

Same case here luck

Luck,

Like boatbod said, it's pure luck (or bad luck). I'm in exactly the same case in Kansas City DO. Wife and I applied on same day, FP on same day, then she get's her interview date, completes interview and I've heard nothing since FP. Our priority dates are Oct 10, 2006 with consecutive recepit numbers.

I took an Infopass and was told that my background check is not yet complete. USCIS/FBI do not give an answer as to what constitutes extended background checks. Like boatbod says, we are in early days and I will wait till March for interview letter before planning further action. Hopefully I get my interview letter by then.
