My H1-B Visa is getting expired next month and have applied for an extension already. The attorney says that it might take around two months to get my approval of Visa. Mean-time, I am planning to visit India in the month of November and was trying to book an Visa Stamping Appointment in Chennai Consulate in the month of November (as you know that it takes like 4 months to get an appointment in Chennai Consulate). But, unfortunately the Web Appointment was asking for my Visa information (WAC number, Visa expiry date) and since I didn't get my Visa approval yet; I tried to give my existing WAC number and Visa expiry date; but then in the final page where it allows us to select a date for appointment it errors out saying that the appointment date is beyond the Visa expiry date and didn't allow me to get an appointment. I was also not able to give the newly applied Receipt WAC number, cos the visa expiry date is a mandatory field and the receipt doesn't have an expiry date on it. So, I am totally lost here. So, Plz do let me know if any of you faced a similar kind of situation and if there is any way out to get an appointment in my case or do I have to wait till I get my Visa approval ? Any responses are really appreciated.

Ask your lawyer, while filing upto what date he requested extension. That is enough .. Normally it goes upto 3 yrs from expiry date of current one.

Hi All,
My H1 is getting expired in september 05 and i plan to get the H1 filed in premium state here in the US and then proceed to india for a marriage. But plan to come back in three weeks time.
Unfortunately when i try to get the booking dates for stamping, it is asking for information which i do not know yet (as i have not filed the h1 extension)
So how do i get the appointment in this case. If i stay longer in india then , chnaces of my job to go are more.
Any pointers in this direction would be appreciated
