Hi

Previous passport had birthplace inadvertently mentioned as place A instead of actual place B. Have applied previously for B2 and F1 unsuccessfuly. Both the B2 and F1 visa applications were filled with birthplace A as place as mentioned in passport.

Made new passport with birthplace correctly mentioned as place B. Now am applying for H4 at consulate with new passport and mentioning birthplace B in visa application form.

Will the consulate notice the birthplace difference and raise objection ?? Is this case sufficient grounds for visa rejection ?? Is there a way to convince the consulate that the error was on part of the passport office and not done deliberately.

Please help.

Thanks.

If you have proper proof of your birth place which on Place B as you say in newpassport, then there is no problem. If some one raises the question you can answer...

Make sure the birth place proof keep ready in case if you don't have.

No thing will happen, some query comes you have the proper proof to prove.

All the best

I don’t see any problem for you, they check only name, DOB, validity of passport, passport # they are not much concerned about place of birth because if you are from India you know that names of city, villages are being changed or changed in past and some time the clerck in passport office commits the mistakes. One of my friend had the place of birth written wrong he got his first H1 with same place of birth and later from NYC Indian consulate he get place of birth corrected and he got the new H1 visa stamp with out any problem what NYC consulate did was that the wrote on one blanl passport page” passport holders place of birth should be read as XXXXXx and then consulate officer put consulate stamp, signature and date
