Birth Certificate

I have received a request to provide my birth certificate for processing of my I-485.

I didn't have the need to look at it in many years so had no clue what was written in it. To my surprise, my birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay (Mumbai now) shows the names of my father and my mother but has "unnamed" written for child's name.

I have an age certificate that shows the same date of birth as mentioned on the birth certificate. Also, one could trace my parents names from the birth certificates on to my passport.

Would USCIS accept my birth certificate "as is" alongwith other corroborative evidence or am I heading into a tailspin of producing a revised birth certificate and more paperwork?

You need affidavits from parents/relatives. search this forum and you will find many useful threads for birth certificates and affidavits. Good luck!

Is my birth certificate invalid for USCIS purposes?

What would happen if I submit it anyway in response to the notice?

The situation u r in is not that unusual for Indians. Indian parents name their kids way after the birth cert is received from the Authorities.

Hence, as ari said, you need to include the affidavits from ur parents and/or relatives vouching your name, DOB and parents names etc....

Is it true that I cannot get an EAD for 90 days after filing my birth certificate in repsond to USCIS request for information?

No, there are talking about the iEAD (interim EAD). Normally, if you haven't got a decision on your EAD after 90 days, you can walk into your DO and get an iEAD one right away. But with an RFE, you can only get that iEAD 90 days from when you they received your RFE response. It should have said so on your RFE letter though. If it didn't, then maybe this whole thing doesn't apply to you?
But don't worry, even though an RFE could delay your real EAD a little bit, a lot of people here who got one still got their EAD before their original 90 days.
At least, that's what I'm counting on myself!!
