Birth Certificate - Urgent Query (hindi)

Hello All.

I have been following these forums very regularly. Just had an urgent question regarding a Birth Certificate.

My wife and I have are interview on Friday coming week. We just noticed that her Birth Certificate is in an Indian Language (hindi)!

We have her high school marksheet, certificates etc.... which show her Father's name, DOB, Place of Birth etc....

Do we need to get a translation done or do you think the supporting documentation (school records) would be enough?

Please let us know as soon as possible.

PS: If you think we need a translation ...please provide some knowledge on how can we get it done..........

You can do the translation for her birth-certificate or you can get it done from anyone who knows english... get it notorized and that should be enough.

Is this for N400? And were you sepcifically asked for the BC? Most of the applicants have never been told to bring the BC and it is not even part of the extra docs mentioned in the IV letter.

Yup I know..... The IV letter does not even ask for the tax returns but we all carry them right... who knows what they may ask for; better to be prepared......

Yes the translation should be done by an expert in Hindi and the expert should give a signed statement saying s/he is qualified for translation. Naturally this applies to all docs you have in Hindi.

They have not asked for it but I know they have asked some folks in the past. In my GC interivew, I did not have BC and took affidavit from two people who said that they saw me comming out Naked in this world crying for some clothes! Hair I guess I am gaining few now, but they are Grey/White... I guess too much knowledge did that.
