Birth Certificate RFE

Finally we got a hold of my wife's RFE. The RFE is about the proof of marriage and birth document. I can take care of the proof of marriage thing, but am confused about the birth certificate.

My wife's birth certificate does not have her mothers name listed; only has the fathers name. We are creating affidavits from her parents and relatives.
But lawyer says, also some documentation in required. We were trying to get my wife's some old certificates or documents which might have both the parents name listed, but in vain.

So my question is, in India(Bombay/Thane) can we get any other certificate from the municipal corporation which can be used instead. Has anyone been in similar situation? Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Does RFE require your wife to submit birth certificate with mother's name? If not, then I would not spend much time to get mother's name on it. If RFE specifically asks for that, then affdavit is the only way to deal with it. Most of the documents in India shows only father's name - including school certificates.

Some document where you can tie your wife's name with mother's name:
1. Birth record from hospital - that might have mother's name.
2. Mother's passport where child name (your wife's name) is mentioned.
3. Ration card might can have all the family members name.

I don't know why yr lawyer asking other documents. My wife also received RFE on birth, I just asked my in-laws to fax me affidavits (2 , one for each) and that's it.
