My wife is a USC. we have question about the birth certificate. when we file the petition that needs to include her birth certificate, can it just be a copy or it has to be certified? Meaning can we just make a copy of her birth certificate and bring the certified one in when we have interview?

She doesn't have the official one. She's going to request from the state to get a certified copy one. Will that be enough to take it with for the interview?

The "certified copy" printed and stamped by the state is an official certificate (it's official, it's just not the actual original -- the state keeps the true original), valid for legal purposes where an official birth certificate is required. Take that to the interview.
