Hello all,

Does USCIS accept the birth certificate issued by the Indian consulate / Embassy in US?

Thanks,

...Pallab

I have a question regarding submitting Birth Certificate for 485. I currently have only a photocopy of it. Does it suffice or do I need the original to submit to INS? Please advise.

Ontub, did you find the answer to your query?

Play safe ..

No. This is AFAIK, not allowed. You need to get BC from your birth place, or a certificate that no record exists and an affidavit from your parents.

No photocopies either ..

Play safe - that is my advice. Get the original - you do not want to find out at the 11th hour that your photocopy is not going to cut it.

------ one only need to attach the Copy of BC with I-485(no need to submit original BC), if you have the Orignal at home get it because if I-485 is transfred to local office for interview they ask for Orignal BC just to have a look.
