Birth certificate?? please help

I am preparing for I-485. I do not have a birth certificate but I do have a legal document stating my wife and my birth informations. It\'s called family birth and status information. It\'s a joint document for me and my wife together. Is it enough to be translated and submitted with my I-485 application?

My 2 cents...

I am assuming that the legal document you are referring to is not from a municipal office. In that case, you need to get hold of a \'Non-availability Certificate\' from the municipal office stating that your birth has not been recorded; in addition, you need to produce two affidavits from persons who had knowledge of your birth e.g. parents, uncles etc.. The affidavits need not be notarized. You need to do the same thing for your spouse if she too does not have a birth certificate.
