Birth Certificate, Non-availability certificate and year of birth after 1970
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone, this might be a very primitive question but I am little confused after reading some postings on the internet. So please help me out. Here is the question:

I have a non-availability certificate and 2 sworned affidavits by parents/relatives stating date of birth, place of birth, parent\'s names. My year of birth is 1974. So my question is would this suffice? I read on the internet that non-availability certificate is issued for Indian nationals only if they are born before 1970. In that case, will INS accept non-availability and affidavits as a substitute for someone who is born in 1974? Appreciate very much if you can reply.

Thanks,
Kiran

Generally it is after 1969

when Govt. of India made it mandatory for all births to be registered. However if the non availability certificate states that the record is not available and the affidavit states that attempt to record the birth was made or the birth record was lost, you are fine.
