Birth certificate needed at Interview?

hey

I am a naturalized US citizen and I am sponsoring my wife for her green card.
We've got the general interview letter.
In the letter it is said to bring both birth certificate.
Since I am now US citizen, do I still need to bring my birth certificate from my country? Do I need to get translated in english as well?
 
my lawyer advised me to bring all original documents with me, meaning the once you sent in with the application. I am assuming you had to get a birth certificate from your home country for that as well right?
 
I didn't send a copy of my birth certificate with my application, just a copy of my US naturalization but we've sent my wife's birth certificate ( that was required ).
I am planning to bring my birth certificate of my country at the interview but I don't have the translation. My question is my origial birth certificate and english translation is required?
 
i am not sure about that. if you can find someone that could translate it for you and certify that he/she is eligible to translate things you may be fine.

don't take this for granted. see what some other people say to this matter.

I don't think the petitioner needs to present his/her birth certificate unless he/she is a native born US citizen.
I am surprised though, you never needed your birth certificate to become a naturalized citizen? :confused:
If you do need your certificate for anything in this country, it must be with a certified translation into English by someone who's competent in both languages.
 
Sponsor's birth certificate is needed as proof of sponsor's US citizenship (if you're born in the US, unless your parents are foreign diplomats, you're a US citizen).

Of course, if you're a naturalized US citizen, your foreign birth certificate doesn't prove your US citizenship.
Certificate of naturalization or valid US passport are good substitutes.

Yes I am bringing my certificate of naturalization and my US passport.
For my foreign birth certificate I will bring it in case but I don't plan to get it translated.
