Hi,

I have two different issues related to birth certificates.
  1. My original birth certificate was lost I got a duplicate birth certificate issued this year from the municipal corporation. Is that fine?
  2. My wife's birth certificate does not have her name, as you know in India, the name of the child is decided afterwards. Is that fine? What other document has to be provided?

Thanks and Regards,
Kaushik

1. Yes. Ask you parents to take the affidavit of your birth for the safer side.
2. How can they issue a birth certificate with out the baby name on the certificate? Then what is written in the NAME column?

Its written None. In India it is pretty common to have birth certificates without baby's name as the name is finalized afterwards due to social practices. Only things written are date, time and place of birth, mother's and father's name and that it is a girl child.

That's okay, you can either get a new birth certificate that supplements the original one with the child's name including both parent's name; from the same municipality. Or, obtain 2 affidavits from her parents certifying the birth.
