Birth Certificate Issue

I have an issue with my wifes last name on the Birth Certificate.

Her name on the Birth Certificate is
Sara Jorgeston
Her mothers name at the time of my wifes birth was Maria Jorgeston.
Her father is not listed on the birth certificate.

Her mother was married to her father after my wifes birth (Age 9). At that time her mother took her father's name and now had has the name Maria Booseman. At the time of my wifes parents marriage my wife took her father's name of Sara Booseman.

We have a copy of the marriage certificate that shows her parents getting married and taking the name Booseman.

What do you suggest I do when filing the I485. I thought the best route was to explain the situation in a letter and submit the marriage certificate as evidence of my wifes name change. Do you believe this will work? Will it be a problem that my wife's father is not listed on the Birth Certificate? Any other suggestions?

it would be good to have a new birth certificate with your wifes fathers name on it Booseman, can she get it from her country?,
that same thing happened to me , i have two birth certificates w/ two different last names, only thing is i am the USC not the applicant so it doesnt matter for me. legally at the time they married he must have adopted her because he was not father in a legal perspective only, no disrespect , we did she last get a copy of her birth certificate? they need to update with her current name, i dont think this is all a big problem but you know how picky some of them are, and you will sleep better knowing you have it accurate.

Germany, oh my thats going to be tough , i worked with a guy from Kaiserslauden he was very sharp. this is going to be challenging is she here in US
 
she probably would need to be in Deustlund sorry Germany i mean and be present w/ Father and prove that he is legal father through adoption
 
Yes she is in the US. I just got off the phone with USCIS Officer she stated that if I write a letter explaining the situation along with a copy of the marriage certificate that it should be fine.
 
I don't think you should worry too much. I think that as long as you submit all the supporting documents of her name change you should be OK. I mean, it's the same as when you get married, your name in the BC is not gonna be the same as the name in the application. Just make sure to write down all the names she used in the form that asks for it. Oh and if you wanna take a step further, I guess you can write a nice letter explaining the situation and attach it to your application.
 
I have a question regarding submitting Birth Certificate for 485. I currently have only a photocopy of it. Does it suffice or do I need the original to submit to INS? Please advise.
