Birth certificate from the consulate

Hello friends

I submitted my birth certificate with the 485 appl. by getting one from the Indian consulate in New York, has anyone else done this too ?
I wanted to know if the consulate birth certificate will be valid or should i expect an RFE down the line ?? Please help

I\'ve done the same thing. A lot of people have posted here that the Consulate certificate is not acceptable9 (but none of these posts seemed to be based on personal experience). But I have seen one person who posted here who got approved with the consulate certificate. He did not recieve any RFE regarding the BC. I guess it all depends on your luck as the INS defies any logic.

My I-485 got approved with just the consulate. However I suggest that you keep the following ready in case you get RFE:

1. Affidavits from Father and Mother for each of you sworn before notary in India

2. Letter from municipality certifying non-availability of birth certificates.

Jack what is your year of birth ? I have a theory that maybe the consulate cerificate might be accepted if u were born well before 1970 and want some data.
