I have completed my citizenship interview and expecting the Oath letter soon. I would like to apply for my mother's green card as soon as possible. She is currently in the USA.

We do not have her birth certificate available. Is it possible to get the birth certificate from the Indian consulate in the US and send it along with the I-130/I-485 application?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks SWaiting and RTk for your help.

Why do you need parents' birth cert?

Folks,

I thought in order to sponsor your parents for GC, you need only your birth certificate having both your parents' names. So, why would you need your Mom's birth certificate? My parents' names have been mis-spelt in my birth cert - what needs to be done? My old Indian passport does have their right names...will a copy of that suffice along with my birth certificate. Also, in those days when my parents got married, they really didn't register...all they have is their wedding invitation card. So, what should be done in that regard?

Would greatly appreciate your timely replies.
