You can apply for jobs, but if they hired you, you won't have your SSN because you don't have your EAD. So start make a list and do all the resume thing on time, so when the time is coming you get all set. That is what I am doing now. Kind of frustrating because is pretty bored! I am tired of NOT working! even I mantain myself posted in books and other stuff but I need to work plus want my own money!
Walk-ins not work everywhere but good luck for the ones who make it.
It is my understading that the "walk-in" is if you have already a FP& bio appointment done with the Customer Service not through Infopass, is two different things right?
Keep trying calling not at 8am, call at 7.55am and keep in the dial. In the Atlanta area is getting worst, I had to make appointment in Alabama, because Atlanta the ASC (who are contractors not people from USCIS) they have all the calendar blocked out because they are moving in August 1. I have been calling to see if there an opening and they still blocked all the dates. You can make appointment in another State if you are willing to travel.
The 42 days dilemma is that they just can book with 42 days in advance that's it! If you want for the 43, 44 days they can't. Why? The several times I called when I was trying to make the appointment (I was making the same question to have kind of an overall view of the situation) is because the software that they are using just allow them (Customer Service) to book for the 42 day for that ASC. Even if they want is not like a calendar software, just allow them by zip code and place of the ASC to book for one day at a time, until somebody cancel or reschedule.
