Gurus,
It might be pretty dumb Question to most of you. My PD is June 20, 2002. I did my FP1 in 2003 which expired long time ago. 1 months ago I filed for my 2nd EAD/AP. Yesterday I got my Biometric notice (Code 3).
Now, my questions are:
1. Is Biometric same as Fingerprints?
2. Whats the difference between Code 2 & Code 3
3. Do think this Biometric notice I got is for the EAD I filed or is it for my 485 as my FP1 had expired.

Gurus!!!! PLEASE RESPOND

Your question should really be put in FAQ category so that more people can get the idea.

Yes, biometrics is FP, a form of FP. If code 1, only involves 10 fingers; cod2, although you have 10, they only take index finger print, plus your digital photo and your signature; code 3 = code 2 + code 3; code 4 = (code 1 + code 2 + code 3)/ 0; code 5 = ... .

Actually you are lucky to get code 3 since it will save you one trip. Like me, I did code 2 two month ago, and I am sure I will need one more visit to ASC because my code 1 expired, and code 2 only takes care of one finger, I have 9 more.

USCIS is doing something good. The biometric is good for EAD, also good for your GC, so say cheese when you take the picture.

Thanks

Thanks Ibelieve

I guess u meant code3=code1 + code2

So you think if I do code 3 they might not ask me for my FP again which expired long time ago?

I recently got Code 2 notice, and my code 1 will be expired in this September, which done last June. So I am just wondering is ther any reason why CIS send these Code 1 and Code 2 seperately? Why not just send us Code 3 to save time for us and CIS offices?

Thanks for your reply.

Ha ha ha ..... you are assuming USCIS is
(a) logical
(b) thinks
(c) cares about wasted time.

These guys are a joke -- lots of folks (incl myself) have got a Code 2 and our original FPs are expiring in a month or two. We'll all get a new Code 1 again - what a pain !

I think their systems aren't "smart" enough to account for a FP expiring in the near future -- looks like they are sending code 3 ONLY if your current FP is already expired.
For others its Code 2 followed closely by a Code 1 :(

Sucks, yeah.

I guess USCIS realized the problem with code 2 now and started to issue code 3 more often.

rs_mangat, sorry about the typro. So your code 3 FP will be valid long enough until you get your approval. Good luck!
