Only a day after the American Hospital Association (AHA) asked Congress to help alleviate the three-year backlog for green cards for RNs born in Philippines, India and China, Representative Tom Lantos (D-CA) introduced the Health Improvement and Professionals Act (H.R.139) to recapture unused visa numbers lost between 2001 and 2004.

Rep. Lantos stated that "if there are more Filipino or Indian or Chinese nurses ready to meet U.S. needs, they should not be held back, particularly if visas for people with similar skills from other countries are going begging."

Questions still needs to be answered:
1) Since RN falls under EB-3 category, Will other professionals (other than RN) be benefited?
2) Is that mean EB-3 (and other possible categories) will not backlogged for some time if this bills passed?
3) How many estimated visa numbers will be available?
