Hi,

My wife is here in USA on B1 visa (through her company). The company is ready to do L1 for her in Spetember.
Her present status in USA ends on June 9th 2007.
Her employer wants to extend her B1 status.
Some one suggested that she can go to Canada and come back on B1 status again for another 3 months.
I believe this is risky. Can some one shed some light on this issue.

The key point is: Can B1 status be extended in this fashion and if so are there any long term risks involved.

Her B-2 status can be extended. She has to file an I-539 in a timely manner and await its adjudication. There is a risk it may be denied, but then it can also be approved. Good luck to her!!!
