Best time to go to POE? Weekdays or weekends?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to apply my TN visa either at port Hope or rainbow bridge in the next couple of days . As I am still woeking full time, I am thinking going on the weekend. Most of my friends have gone down during the week day, saying the port may be less busy and in turn you may get a officier who is not super annoyed.

I would love to hear the forums feedback on your experience, if there is really an idea time to go to the boarder?

Dont think about whether the officer will be annoyed or not. Instead its best to focus on having a solid petition and everything should go ok. Weekday/weekend shouldnt matter.

An officer at a 'less busy' port may scrutinize holes in a petition that is not on solid ground. Concentrate on a solid petition, rather than timing the CBP crossing.
 
Remember that TN petition is a business transaction, so conducting yourself as such - including appearing during business hours looks more professional. Besides, they should be able to contact your sponsor when you cross. Bad way to start by interrupting your boss during golf game.

Thanks for your valuable input! I did go down to peace bridge today (Sunday). But luckily I had emailed my boss to notify him that I will be at the boarder and they might call him. And they did! Twice! So luckily he was able to answer their calls. After 2 hours at the boarder they granted me my TN.

Now I have a silly question, when I am flying down to my job in 2 weeks, do I still have to bring all my documents to show to CPB? Or they will see my TN slip and let me through no problem?
 
Just the TN I 94 is sufficient. You might want to scan the docs and keep them on cloud just in case thought I doubt they'd ask to see them until your next TN petition

But for anyone wondering, it is better to visit the POE between mon- fri business hours so the officer can reach your employer with ease if they need to. And make sure you let your future boss know which day you intend to go so they can keep an eye on their phone.
