Best options for German citizen married to US spouse (by birth)

As a German passport holder married for over three years to a US spouse (born in the US) we have been living in Germany for the last years and are now looking for the best option to get a visa for me that would allow me to work for a US employer or at least staying for minimum one year in the US while still receiving salary from a German employer.

What would the fastest way to achieve this goal and are there any disadvantages of filing an I-130 versus applying for a B1/B2 visa?

From my experience it's possible to work, but not allowed to receive a salary whereas free accommodation can be provided, right? I am thinking about volunteering for example without having to pay for housing or food.

You asked about "working" for up to 1 year in the US for a US employer on a B1/B2 visa, so my previous response stands. If from experience you were able to do this, then you should already know which visa you need based on your previous experience, right?

Thanks for your response and I am still wondering if it's possible to stay in the US with a B1/B2 visa for a year while waiting for a greencard (as spouse of a US citizen), because a B1/B2 seems to be granted much faster. Would you confirm that assumption and does it "negatively influence" the greencard application to get a B1/B2 visa?
