Any of u got any idea what's the procedure to write our problem to a senator? And how that can help us speed up our processing? Any idea/experience please share. The reason I am saying this cause I know a guy who's I-485 was taking longtime & he wrote that issue to his senator & it took only a month for him to receive an approval along with GC.

It never hurts to try, especially in your case - which is past due even according to the official USCIS timeline. You mentioned yourself that senator's involvement in your friend's case helped. A lot depens on who is your senator and his/her stance on immigration issues. I contacted my representative because I figured it is not going to make things any worse than they are already. Representative's assistant contacted me in no time at all once my letter was received. Anything that will make USCIS pay attention to your case should work. Good luck! Deliverance is near!

Let me disagree. I remember recent posting of annaraka, in which she mentioned that congressional interventions has always been helpful in her case.

I would also suggest writing to Nebraska. Don't just write, send them a fax explaining the situation. There is fax number you can get calling 800 number. Be proactive and try calling different times. Sometime the customer support rep can send a query to Nebraska and then they reply. Insist on transfering to an Immigration officer.
You never know when some kind officer looks at your case and speeds up the process.

But my lawyer instructs me, not to send anything to urge to INS by letter or fax. They keep everything in file. If you made a mistake, they will use it to against you. Just wait....

Thanks Morning !!!

Thanks Morning for your reply. I agree with you 100%. If you notice lot other forum people like Cody, me & lot others who completed everything possibly USCIS could have asked for but just suffering due to I/O officer's laziness. For people like us it don't hurt as you say cause it's already in bad shape.
Atleast if the senators office ask USCIS regarding our cases those ready for approval but waiting for an inefficient I/O could help speed up the process.
But you are right that all depends how helpful that senator is. Iam talking about the same senator (John Cornyn) from TX who was a big help in my friend's case. Therefore I would like to take a shot.
Atique.

Thanks Cody !!!

Thanks Cody but the reason I'm worrying cause my code 1 (Oct 14) is getting close to 3 months but still waiting. I been checking both e-mails & mail box everyday. You know cody seems like our I/O is unfortunately on vacation for ever or don't care about people's suffering. You know somwetimes I wonder these people are also like humans who has the same blood we do they feel pains & sufferings the same way we do than why they don't act the same. It's not them are working voluntarily but getting paid for what they are doing from our hard earn money but it's painful to see the sufferings we are all going through. May God bless their heart & make them more human like us sufferers.
Don't you think we deserve fairness here. When we were granted asylum we were throughly interviewed & based upon that we achived it. It was not easy. If that's the case than why all these????? Why we need to get our FP taken numorus times??? Or it's the asyless fingers are different than others that keep changing every 15 months?????????. FP don't change in anyone's lifetime. Your face could look different, your character could change but FP is unique for the day you born till you have your last breath.
Now they can say it takes time for name check come on for this 21TH century in United States a country that is using most well trained people working with all modern tecnology that don't make much sense.
I understand 9/11 changed a lot in this country & my heart goes out for those people who lost their lives on that day but that cannot be the only excuse we innocent people who has nothing to do with that have to suffer 5/6/7 long years. Human life is very short & we all deserve fairness.
You know me & my wife always argue about this issue. She always says (she's PR in Canada) Canada's immigration is way quicker than here. And I couldn't agree more about that. I know a guy who seeked asylum in Canada 3 yrs back got approved within a year got his PR status now bringing his wife & family. Now I stopped calling him cause everytime he asks me about my case I say still waiting !!!! I'm in this country almost 15 yrs & still waiting to be adjudicated where else he came to Canada 4 yrs & now calling travel agents to buy plane tickets for his family to get here.
Thanks Cody for you support at all times. I wish this coming new year 2006 will bring us happiness & freedom.
Wishing you & all fellow asylee brothers/sisters a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Dear Atique:

I feel the same pain with you. But please read H1 forum in Vermont Service center section. A guy told us about more clear about the status of name checking. Maybe I have to prepare long term. That is why I calm down already.

Dear Antique, Given your notice date, your concern is justified. One thing I found helpful is the office of Ombudsman. A month ago I wrote to this office a letter and a two weeks later I recieved a letter informing me of the reciept of my letter and their action. The letter said we initiated a formal inquiry on your behave and USCIS should contact you and us as to why your case is pending, and we will resolve your issue. I recieved an action taken on my case as result though It was not the action I was expecting, but I got my case moving. Therefore, I believe if you write to that office you will get an answer. If you have written to them already and they didn't help you..then ignore this posting, but if you have not tried before, try it..............

Thanks Faysal. I did send a letter to my congressman yesterday. What good that's going to do that I don't know but atleast I hope USCIS will touch my file for a moment. To me it's not going to harm anyone for trying. Lets wait couple of more weeks & see what happens.

Dear Atique:

Here you are:

the same website as this one.
Go to immigrationportal forums.
then I-485.
then Vermont Service Center

Then: Name checking.

It says: FBI is only handling name checking of 2003 & 2004's backlog etc.
Maybe I need another 2 years to see my G/C?

Cody2 ,,,

just looked @ this link http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=199722 .... sound like noboday know what is going on. all what you read is just opinions not facts.
with all respect I don't think name checking take that long. also we (asylums) got an FBI name checking before the final approval and did not take that long.
Name checking is just an excuse to play and play and play with people heart and feature.
if there is a name checking why some ND05 asked to do Medical preparing for approval ?
name checking is the card they have in hand to dealy the procesess.

Dear Wait:

Thank you for your good advice. Name checking is really existing, very slow & complicated. In my heart, I hope I can get my G/C soon.. It creates panic situation in my family, my wife got G/C within 45days after she submitted her Medical, my son 3 months, for me 10 months passed already. nothing, no interview, no request for more evidence, just waiting. Today the biggest Chinese newspaper " World Journal" in Los Angles has a long article about this delay of G/C nowadays, lots of people are waiting due to name check, not only for asylum, 2 or 3 years' waiting is normal. It tells the reader a story about a father & a son based on Asylum. The son got G/C long time ago, but the father is still waiting. It is a big social problem already. So, I have prepared to see my G/C in two years. my name is too common, my lawyer has 4 customers exactly like my name in Chinese. so, whenever I call her, she will ask which one. my lawyer told me that I might be double matched in name checking. As FBI's name checking is only for 2003 & 2004 's backlog now. I know where I am now. My mood is good now. Frankly speaking, I was very in bad mood for two months. Now I am OK.
So, I hope everybody in this Forum could be happy again to face this fact. In short, everybody will get G/C sooner or later.
If I can get my G/C in 2006, I might have a heart attack, at least stop beating for a while.

I agree that the "namechecking" is just a very lame excuse for inefficiency and the fact that the asylee adjustments are the last on the priority list for the USCIS. I have already mentioned somewhere that I have a very uncommon name and I am a female. In fact, one time I had a visitor at work, who wanted to talk to me. She apologized about the reason, but mentioned that my married name is her maiden name and for almost 20 years she lived in US she simply never heard about anyone with by this name - I was the first. I, personally, have never even heard about someone with the same last name as mine, not to mention the combination of my last and first name, which is extremely uncommon, even in the country where I came from.
cody2
You have a ray of hope - your family received thier GC's, so yours should be on the way! :)
atique rahman
I feel your pain! I could attest to every word of yours. It's getting more and more excruciating by day, because the longer the case is pending the longer I have to deal with horrible memories of me nearly escaping death - just to have my life being indefinitely put on hold. By all means, contact the senator and do not lose faith.
