Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I hope this helps in faster approvals for EAD and also reduces the load on BCIS, thereby freeing them for other adjudications.
I read the BCIS press release (link for immigration-law.com), about 30% of cases relate to either I765 or I90 and that was the reason these two forms were chosen initially. It also mentions that the electronic filing involves a trip to an "application support center" to get photographs and signatures recorded. One needs to schedule an appointment for the same after electronic filing.
