Basic questions on EAD(I-765)

I have filed I-140/485 concurrently and I still have about 2 year
on my H-1B. I'm wondering if there is any benefit from having
EAD.

1. If I file I-765 and get EAD, is it bound to my current employer ?
If I change my job before GC approval, should I file EAD again ?
I know I have to transfer H-1B but I was wondering if I can use
EAD immediately (I'm guessing not though...)

2. If I get EAD, is my H-1 status disappeared ? Or do I have
2 redundant work permits: H-1B and EAD ?

Thanks,

1. EAD is not bound to employer. You can change employers, or work for several employers at same time with EAD.

2. When you start using EAD, you loose H-1, and your dependents loose H-4.

I think you can go back to H-1 after using EAD, but you must apply for H-1/H-4 again.

Benefit of being on H-1/4: If your I-485 is denied, you are in status when on H-1, and out of status (immediately) if you are using EAD. Same for dependents.

Hi,
I have got similar question and found Compass answer useful.
As a follow up Q, Can I be on H1 and my wife(currently on H4) can use EAD.
How can she get her H4 status back If my 485 denied.

Any suggestions!!!

After using EAD your wife can get H-4 back (if you will stay on H-1 of course) but i think she must apply again.
This is what I am doing: I am on H-1 and my spouse and child are using EADs so they lost their H-4 but they can get it back in case my I-485 will be denied...

How does the 6 year limit on H-1 transfer to EAD ?
EAD has a limit too ?

Thanks,
