Friends, I need your advise. One of my friend just called me and asked me about it. Her husband is going to file bankrupsy next week. She is waiting for her GC to arrive after the interview. She has a checking and saving account with her husband. Moreover the husband also have a checking account seperately with the same bank. She use the same account(the one with her husband) to deposit her paycheck directly from her emploper. The account her husband has seperately is overdrawn and the bank is taking money from her account to her husband's account every time when her employer post check. She said she has only this account that they use to pay their bills. She is alsking what will happen to her account if her hubby file bankrupsy? What will happen if she closed this account. She is afraid to close because she gave this account statment to all her immigration pertained applications. What should I adivse her. She is also from India and she does not know what should do. Please respond.....

So, can she just close her account before he file for bankruptcy?
I think that will not affect her credit. Otherwise just leave the account as it as.What do you think?
Regardless of if she closes or not the account it may affect her credit. For example, if she co signed a loan or mortgage with him, his bankruptcy will affect her credit.
