kv29 - Good luck to your interview tomorrow

Kv29,
All the best for your interview. Post your results.

Thanks

Hi kv72,

Yes, I definetly need it.

I am not sure if I would get my GC tomorrow as I have two complexity:

1. Change of employer after 180 days
2. MOST IMPORTANT , my I-140 as approved for CP, so do not know if my paper has been retrieved from Bombay/VSC.

I would post my experience tomorrow evening.

Pray for me.

Thanks

same as me

Kv29,
Don\'t worry. Job change might not be the issue. I changed my job because of my previous company got bankrupted. The officer didn\'t pay too much attention to that. She didn\'t even count the 180 days. She asked me recent paystubs and employment letter, proof of bankruptcy . Thats it.She only talked about the I140 issue. So as long as your I140 is transfered from VT to BAL you will get stamped tomorrow.

Baltimore Interview Experience - Approval Pending

Hi Everyone,

My wife wife and I were interviewed yesterday by a lady (OfficerB). After taking the oath she asked us the usual Yes/No questions and we submitted the following typical documents : Passports, EAD\'s, Advance Parole Docs, I-94, W-2 & Tax returns (99,00), Birth & Marriage Certificates & current employment letters. The officer then stated that my fingerprints (second attempt) came out unclassified or could not be read and that I would have to obtain a local police clearance report in order for her to issue an approval notice. But she said that I would not have to interview again and as soon as I submitted the police report, she would issue an approval notice within 30 days. She also said that this is a common procedure for people whose fingerprints are hard to be read.

If there is anyone out there who had issues with fingerprints or were asked to be fingerprinted twice, my advice to you is to take a police clearance certificate with you to the interview. I only wish they would let us know what specific documents to get prior to the interview date esp. when our applications sit in their office for 6+ months. Its definitely frustrating. I applied for the clearance certificate at Maryland State Police Headquarters in Reisterstown yesterday afternoon. They said it would take 10-12 days to mail the report to me after which I will submit it personally to B-INS. So, hopefully I should get my approval notice by the end of the year. The wait continues.......If anyone had a similar experience or submitted other kinds pof RFE (Birth certificate etc.) and can post their experience as to how long it took for them to get the approval notice after sending in the RFE, I would greatly appreciate it and I am sure it will also help others in the thread.

A question

Hello Sprasad,
Did you have to fingerprint twice before the case was transferred to Baltimore? This really sucks, but don\'t worry I had a friend (this was back in 1999 though) who got his Police clearance in a day. You should ger yours in no time. Good luck! I would really appreciate your response. Thanks in advance....

Fingerprinting

Rathor,
I fingerprinted twice before my case was transferred to Baltimore. But the transfer I think was a general one given the flood of applications that were transferred between May to July from VSC. But there was no notice of any kind from either VSC or Baltimore after my second fingerprinting saying that they were still unable to properly read it for background check. I think one only finds out when you go for the interview which really sucks !!
But if you fingerprinted only once and did not receive a second notice you should be ok. You can also check with the FBI by calling thier number.

Successful GC Stamping at Baltimore Yesterday....

Hi,
With God\'s grace and on the auspicious day of DIWALI I got my passport stamped for GC yesterday.
We had our interview at 3 PM but were called around 3.40 PM by officer C( A cute guy called Micken). Then what happened is as follows:
1. Take the Oath.
2. Passport/EAD/Driver\'s License for me and my wife.
3. Went through both of our I-485 application asking us basic questions like Mother\'s name, Father\'s name, Address, SSN and the Yes/No type of questions.
4. Asked me whom I am currently working with.
5. I told him my new company\'s name as I had changed my employer after 180 days and gave him old employer\'s Termination letter and new employer\'s Verification Letter.
6. He observed from my file that my petitioner/old employer has a name change. So my Attorney jumped in and told him about the successor-in-interest acquisition before 180 days and gave him the merger papers. He looked satisfied.
7. I gave him last 2 payslips, couple of payslips from the old employer and some more before the merger happened and he took them and put it in my file.
8. HOWEVER he told us that there is no I-140 and LC petition in the file and he would be back after speaking to the supervisor. My HEART SANK as I was expecting this and thought that I would again have to wait for couple of more months.
9. He came back in about 5 minutes. As soon as he came my attorney asked him whether that means that he won\'t be able to stamp our passport the same day. He replied NO. That\'s not the problem. He explained us that they sent the first request to VSC for my paper retrieval in August. After that they sent the second and third request in September and October but have not received the paper yet. And as per INS rule if you make 3 requests and it is past 90 days you can go ahead and issue the GC without the original papers. So he took the copy of both I-140 and LC from the attorney and put them in my file and STAMPED BOTH OF OUR PASSPORT.
10. He did not ask us for any BC/MC or any paperwork or did not ask or verify about my new employment. Probably since there was no original I-140 or LC he could not compare it anyway.

Thus our wait of almost 14 months ended(Started LC in Sep 2000) and we are now PERMANENT RESIDENT.

IF you still have any questions, I would be glad to answer them. So KV72, Anastomosis don\'t loose your heart, you would get your passport stamped( I know it is too easy to say this now).

Anyway thanks a lot for all your help. This has been a really wonderful forum to share your ideas and thoughts.

congrads

KV29,
It is really good news. Enjoy your freedom. Hopefully We will also get out approval soon.

CONGRATS!!

KV29:

That is really good news. You did a very good job being pro-active with the I-140 and you deserve the success!!

Congrats and enjoy!!

could you please give the details of obtaining the clearance certificate

Hi,

Could you please give the details of obtaining the clearance certificate: the direction to the state police HQ, their contact phone number, etc. Do you need to redo a finger print there?

Thanks a lot

Directions

Maryland State Police Headquarters, CJIS Office, 6776 Reisterstown Road (Exit 20 off I-695 Beltway). Yes, you will be fingerprinted again when you go there.

Congrats KV 29

Congrats ! You deserve it after all the hard work and persistance you put into it. It is a shame that educated, law abiding and qualified people like us have to undergo all this trouble and pain to be a resident of this country that only stands to immensly benefit from immigrants like us. I hope to get my stamping soon...keeping my fingers crossed.

EAD issue

I finished my interview on OCT 23rd. But the approval is pending for I140 orginals. My EAD expires on Jan 5th 2002. Do I have to renew my EAD?? or have a hope to get the approval soon. Anybody in similar situation??

No Title

It is always better to be on the safe side, I would strongly suggest you apply for your EAD. and hope your GC approval comes soon.

I am going to apply EAD in BAL

I called VT to find out where should I apply EAD?. The IIO said I should apply EAD in BAL. And also she confirmed they received I140 from Chennai. But she wasn\'t sure about when they are going to send it to BAL. She ask me check back within a week. I will try again nextweek.
