From the other thread:
You posted that if NVC does not recieve letter confirming opting for AOS with in 30 days of approving 140 then NVC sends file to consulates.
Is it true?
Cause My485 was filed after (am sure) 60 days fo 140 approval. Does it imply that my 140 original wud have been sent to consulate abroad even I never opted for CP.
Please advise :Will it help if I write to NVC or VSC to retrieve back my file from consulate if they have sent my file to consulate abroad.

What should I or other people do premptively?

Batimore transfer interview

I just wonder if there is any body got approved from Baltimore office while he/she was laid off before 180 days and found a simailar job after laid off.

I got approved notice last Sat. after I submitted the official notarized B.C.(My interview was at Aug. 29, 2001). Thanks for the useful information from this site. Good luck for everyone!
 
Anastomosis! Call NVC and find out

Anastomosis, I had the same problem. Call NVC(603-334-0700) automated system and enter your I140 EAC number and it will say the status. Whether pocket 3 has been sent it to Attorney or someting like that. Then you can talk to the customer service then they will give you case# and the respective cousulate (chennai,Mumbai). Then using the Case# send email to Cousulate. They will let you know the status.

I did that last week. I got a reply from Chennai today ,my I140 is already transfered to Vermont on Aug 17th. I have to Call vermont and find out the rest.

Thanks for your Email..

I am also trying to contact Vermont to find out if my file is transferred from VSC to Baltimore(Same case as yours). I guess you are also trying to do the same thing.

Please let us know after you are able to talk to Vermont about what they say. I will also let you know once I speak to them. This way we would have the answer twice from may be two different IIO and hopefully both should be similar.

Anyway when is your interview scheduled at BAL ???

I will keep you posted. From Chennai email they sent me the Reg # . Did you get the samething from them?. I don\'t know how to start the conversation to IIO. Go from I140 receipt Number or I485 receipt number. Do you have any Idea??. Anyway I will try to do that today..
 
Laid off before 180 days and got approved from Baltimore Office?

Anybdoy got approved if you got laid off before 180 days and found a similar job later on?

If your I-140 was for AOS (It is clearly stated on your I-140 approval notice) then you have nothing to worry about as the I-140 sits in Vermont and never gets forwarded to NVC. Only those whose I-140 is approved for CP gets the I-140 forwarded to NVC and if they do not hear from the applicant they forward it to the respective consulate. I think from what you say you have nothing to worry about.

Hi Kv72,

Did you manage to speak to IIO at VSC.

I did it today. They told me that my entire file is with BAL and they do not have anything. They also informed me that if they DID receive the file from Bombay, they would have transferred it also to BAL. However they could not confirm the above or the fact that they DID receive the file from Bombay. They also told me that if anything is missing, BAL would request from us before / after the interview.

So, I guess I did not achieve anything even after talking to them.

Please let me know your experience.

I did call NVC and e-mailed Chennai with EAC# of I-140 and both confirmed that the I-140 is sitting in Chennai. The Chennai consular guy e-mailed me saying that they need INS to request it form them directly. I do not know when that is going to happen!

Ask Your lawyer to talk with BAL

I think you should take the KV29 approach. Ask your lawyer to give a
request to BAL INS.

KV29, I didn\'t have a chance to talk to IIO. I will try and let you know the result.

     I called IIO today. And she said there is no information about my I140 in the system . She mentioned it may be in mail room. Don\'t know..

I called my parents in China after the interview. They went to local office first to get certification stating that I\'m one of their child. Then, they brought it with other old family record (Huko) and my old Chinese passport, and my photos to city office. It took about two weeks to have the B.C. ready. My father mailed it to me through Chinese Express, which took about one week.
I sent the copy to my lawyer and she notarized it. She mailed it to B-INS at the end of Sept. I received B-INS receiving notice around middle of Oct. which said that it may take up to five monthes to handle my case. It asked me don\'t call them or go to their place during these five monthes, only contact them after five monthes if I didn\'t hear from them. Fortunatly, they approved it sooner.

Question for Past Baltimore Interviewees

Hi Guys,
I have my interview next Tuesday, Nov 13th. Where did you guys park when you went for your interview ? Is metered/garage parking readily available near the BINS office and how is it on a weekday morning ? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all waiting in luine to be interviewed.

Folks,

My interview is on Dec 11th at around 10.30.
I received the letter last Friday. I am a June 04th transferee.
They have incorrectly spelled my first name and my wife\'s last name.

I have asked my lawyers to look at it and advise how to resolve the issue.

Parking near BINS

There are two garages at the intersection of Charles Street and Redwood Street across Zi Pani cafe, which are walkable distance from BINS building (i.e. 31 Hopkins Plaza). The maximum charge is $11 or $12. I have found parking there at almost all times (since I have to visit that area frequently for my work). There is metered parking also closeby but I think the max time on meters is 2 hrs and there are some blackout times for those meters.
