My I-140 was approved for CP. So this is not a problem, looks like.
Interview at 2.00 PM. Gave the appointment
letter to the counter lady at 1.50 PM.
Was called for interview at 2.15 PM (that
was great considering the big crowd in the room and
me and my wife were standing in a queue outside).
The officer first asked for Passport, MD drivers license and EAD.
Then he was going through my files and doing some markings etc.
Asked if I had employment letter, 2001 W2 and Tax return.
I told yes and handed them over. W2 I gave copy as he wanted
to file them. He asked my address, father/mother first name
and standard questions requesting yes/no answers like one in
I-485 form. After that he took fingerprint and signature.
Then he went out. He came back and asked wife
questions about address, father/mother first name.
He told he is waiting for Immigrant number from State
Dept and it takes 5-10 mnutes. Wife also fingerprinted/signed.
Then he stamped passports and explained this is a temp
evidence and should get card in 4-8 weeks (I was expecting
him to say months). Then he told it may take more time, also
sometimes sevaral months, and hence the stamp is valid for a
year. He asked me to give a copy to employer immediately.
He also gave an approval letter typed on Baltimore letterhead.
He asked us to carry a copy of temp stamp with us all times and
keep passport at home.
Then he asked if we had questions. Then I told him I had AP
papers, then he told, Yea you can give it to me. He had previously taken our EAD cards and I-94.
Did not ask any other documents though I had taken all the documents/copy as mentioned in the interview checklist.
Officer was chatting casually and very friendly.
and wife.
