Bad news, very bad news

Guys
Recently, I met my lawyer (doing the INS work). He is a high profile immigration lawyer, who has presence in various committees and also AILA.
As described by him, TSC is not going to speed up very much to clear the cases. Being in the new department of homeland security, service is the last priority for them. At present they are more concerned about border security and INS related jobs for that important task. Texas/ Mexico being a notorious border is a high priority and has to be sealed properly. This sealing has to be done at entry points as well illigal entry points. They also want it to be efficient and user friendly.

Another main job being done and need to be done is to put every one in a retrievable databank. This is required for people entering USA at airports as well through roads and ships. Some cases observed have been non issuing of social security number as they did not have I 94 number entered in the databank for over 10 days. If this does not happen, Social security number issuing goes through a longer route of background checking etc. Please also note, salary can not be paid if you do not have social security number.

The only good news is that they are aware of these problems. Meetings are being held and cases are being studied by various groups. People are being hired and trained for new jobs and also for the older type of INS service related jobs.

Future (undisclosed, classified date) may be good but it is not near.

Can we do some thing? Other problem being faced by INS is constant calls by people. Some of these people are those who call them every week. These people are not ready for approvals, but keep pushing them for faster service. These type of calls after calls result in mistakes and wrong work like doube FP notices, missed FP notices and other various mistakes. Please notice IIO is not approving authority. Call them only if your case is getting very delayed.

Not a blame

It is an advice to do so.
I or TSC do agree that there is a delay and is due to several reasons. One of those reasons as specified is people disturbing their routine due to unwanted reasons.
On this forum, I have seen people with even Nov 02 ND already calling TSC for FP, getting frustrated that no one spoke them with 100% attention. These acts are very immature.

I am not sure what business or responsibility, some of you are in, but please note National security is not a small job. There are several holes in the system AND ALL OF THEM NEED TO BE PLUGGED.

These things take time. Are things not delayed in your jobs?

May01,

First of all let me say I 100% agree with you about people calling unnecessarily or too many times. That is bad for people who have genuine questions bacause it ties up the phone lines.

But let me also say that calling IIOs does not interfere with the case processing in any way. Think of IIOs as people who are present in a call center. All they do is answer your questions and forward your (genuine and valid) issues to the actual Immigration officers.

So calling them does not delay other people's processing because that is handled by people completely different from the IIOs.

Of course, as different people have different temprament, so I've seen that some IIOs are genuinely nice people and go out of the way to talk nicely to you and explain the process and help you if they can, while others are just sitting there and ready to bite you head off !!

> I have seen people with even Nov 02 ND already
> calling TSC for FP

Not only these people will get cool reception from
IIOs, they are also unnecessarily tying up the
line, preventing anyone with real needs to call.
