Bad case of Eczema (FP problems)

Hi, I missed my original FP appt. on Dec 4 because my hands (mostly fingertips) have been peeling really badly since the beginning of Nov after my vacation to the Bahamas. I've gone through ALL sorts of lotions, cream and in fact, last Tuesday I went to see a dermatologist in town and he prescribed steroid cream and antibiotics and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

My question is, is there a way I can just go ahead and get a non-criminal police clearance from all the counties that I've lived in for the past five years instead of waiting for my hands to heal since at this point it seems almost pointless?

We're expecting a military move to Texas early next Spring (end of Mar) and I would love to take care of this and get it out of my way before I move away so I'm in a very tight timeline. Would a letter from my dermatologist help?

Any advice?
Thanks.

I've had the same problem as you - Eczema with peeling fingertips. I've had this condition for many years and when I went for my first FP for my GC I was turned away and told to come back after having treatment and it had healed. The doctor prescribed a cream (I think it is a steroid cream called Beta-Val). It did work and the fingers healed and the FP was done successfully. However, it did take about 1 month to heal (with application 2-3 times a day everyday).

Since then I've had to do one more FP before I got the GC and last month the FP for Citizenship. I find that the condition returns if I stop treating it so the last 2 times I started treating the condition about 1 month before the FP. For the Citizenship application I started the treatment when I filed the application.

So your current treatment should work but at least based on my experience it will not happen over a few days - you need to wait a month at least to figure out if it is working.

Unfortunately you'll need to go through the FP process for USCIS to make the determination if your FP are of poor quality. If they are, then you'll be required to provide the police background check papers at interview.
